Selling translation and co-publication rights to your academic and professional titles to other international publishers can be a costly and difficult process for some smaller to medium sized publishing businesses. Having access to the correct personnel, having good editorial contacts and knowing what contractual relationships to enter into and where revenue can be made, can be a complex business. Keeping abreast of procedures and the cycle of rights and co-publication selling may be too onerous.
OPP has launched a new service to provide assistance with the sale of translation and co-publication rights.
Primarily aimed at English-language publishers of academic and professional material in the UK and North America who are looking to increase their licensing revenues, OPP will work with you, on a per title basis to interest other publishers from Europe, Asia and the Far East in your product.
The service operates on two six-monthly cycles each year – to offer pre promotion and follow-up to the London Book Fair and the Frankfurt Book Fair.
March – August (Cycle 1) London Book Fair
September – February (Cycle 2) – Frankfurt Book Fair
At the start of each cycle participating publishers are asked to provide details of their rights product. OPP will disseminate this information to relevant international publishers prior to each fair, then attend the fair and hold meetings with interested parties. OPP in liaison with you will ensure dispatch of appropriate reading copies, follow up options and close deals for you in the period following each book fair. OPP receives a commission based on the advance payment negotiated for each contract.
